KVCR, public radio station in San Bernardino, California asked Rockit Science to redesign and reposition their brand.

KVCR/NPR

KVCR, a NPR radio station, based in San Bernardino, California, determined they needed to increase brand awareness and update their outdated brand identity. The new identity needed to elevate and reposition the brand -- go beyond where NPR is taking the national brand, exploring the path of new and existing listeners. Media is segmented, increasing the challenges of media outlets when it comes to capturing and retaining audiences. KVCR receives limited advertising and marketing support from NPR on a national level, providing generic materials that often weaken the public radio station’s brand.

Tune in to Awesome

Rockit Science Agency developed a print advertising campaign aimed at increasing the perception of KVCR/NPR in the minds of new and existing listeners. KVCR integrated the new brand into Social Media activities, including Twitter and Facebook. The creative team wanted listeners to relate to the need and utilize KVCR for their one-stop daily news for every facet of their lives. KVCR has increased listeners and had a record giving year which has been attributed to the newly revitalized brand and campaign awareness. The print campaign was utilized by additional public radio stations based on KVCR’s success utilizing the print ads during fundraising periods.

The Part Where We Talk About the Awards We’ve Won

In 2010, KVCR’s consumer trade advertising campaign won a local gold ADDY award. Individual ads in the campaign also won two local silver ADDY awards. The ads rewarded were entitled “Smart Your Day” and “News Burger.”

So…what exactly did we do? Back to Top.
